Data centers are using AI to save energy. For instance, AI-powered cooling systems adjust airflow and temperature based on real-time data, cutting down energy waste. AI also helps data centers run smarter. It can predict when energy will be needed most, prevent waste, and even decide when to use green energy like wind or solar power. According to Google DeepMind, using AI for cooling has reduced energy use in some data centers by up to 40%. ### From Compliance to Leadership In the European Union (EU), new rules mean data centers that use a lot of power must share details about their energy use and efficiency. These rules are part of the European Energy Efficiency Directive (EEED). But following the rules isn’t enough—data centers need to do more. With AI, data centers can go beyond just meeting regulations. AI can help them plan better, stay efficient, and use more renewable energy.
